This collection contains the records of major denominations within Alabama, including Baptist, Catholic, Church of Christ, Episcopal, Jewish, Methodist and Presbyterian. The records pertain to churches throughout Alabama and document their activity through minutes, registers, financial records, correspondence, reports, programs, and scrapbooks. Part of this collection contains histories of individual congregations, compiled by the WPA during the 1930s. There are also records concerning the religious activities and projects of women as well as information about the religious differences in the U.S. pre-1865 and post-war.
